Privacy Policy

PharmaWallah (pharmawallah.com) is a free educational website for pharmacy students, offering course lessons, pharmaceutical calculators, MCQ practice, a drug encyclopedia, clinical tools and an AI study guide. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Most of PharmaWallah — lessons, calculators, question banks and tools — can be used without an account. We collect the following:

Optional accounts

If you create an account, we store your name and email address, and your password is handled by our authentication provider, Supabase (we never see it). You can also sign in with Google, in which case Google shares your name and email address with us. With an account we record your study progress — which course units you have opened or marked as read, your quiz and MCQ results, and time spent — so that your dashboard can show where you left off.

Community

Posts, comments and votes you make in the community are stored with your display name and are visible to other visitors. If you report a post or comment, we keep the report (your account, the reason and any detail you add) so the team can review it; the person reported is not told who reported them. Event registration

If you register for a PharmaWallah event such as Battle Royale, we store the details on the registration form — your name, email address, phone number, university, year of study and, if you give it, your student ID — together with your payment status and your game results. No account is needed to register. Registration emails are sent through Resend.

• The public leaderboard shows only your first name, rank and score — not your surname or university.
• You can hide your name completely from the result page, using your Player ID and the email you registered with; the board then lists you as “Anonymous player”.
• The certificate search finds you only when someone types your full name exactly; it then shows your name, university and Player ID so you can open your certificate. Your full name and university are printed on your certificate.
• Your email address, phone number, student ID and payment status are never shown publicly.

Contact and careers forms

When you use the Contact or Careers form, the name, email address and message you enter are emailed to our team (sent through the email service Resend) so that we can reply.

AI tools

• Questions you ask the AI Guide, photos you give the Prescription Reader, and the written answers you submit in the pathology spot test (for marking) are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a response. Prescription photos are not stored by PharmaWallah.
• We do not store your AI Guide questions on our servers. Your saved AI Guide conversations are kept only in your own browser, and you can delete them from the Guide at any time.

Usage and security data

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to count page views and measure performance. They report aggregated statistics and do not use cookies. To protect the site from abuse, your IP address is used briefly to rate-limit requests such as searches, AI questions and form submissions.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

• PharmaWallah uses Google AdSense to show advertisements on some pages (not in the Android app). Ad units are switched off at the moment while our AdSense application is reviewed; Google's AdSense script still loads (subject to consent, below) so that Google can verify the site. When ads are shown, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com), or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.

How Google uses information from sites that use its services is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. The Android app shows no advertising.

Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask before loading Google's advertising script. Until you choose “Accept”, the script is not loaded and no advertising cookie is set. We remember your choice in a cookie named pw_ad_consent for a year. You can change it here:

Cookies and browser storage we set

• Sign-in cookies keep you logged in to your account. They are only set when you sign in.
• pw_ad_consent remembers your advertising-cookie choice, only for visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland.
• Your browser's local storage keeps things like saved AI Guide conversations, saved analyses in the camera tools, molecules saved in the Molecular Lab and display preferences. This stays on your device; clearing your browser data removes it.

Service providers

We rely on Vercel (hosting and analytics), Supabase (accounts and database), MongoDB Atlas (drug reference data), Upstash (rate limiting), Resend (email) and Google (AI answers, sign-in and advertising). Each processes data only as needed to provide its service.

• Account and progress data is kept for as long as you have an account. To have your account and its data deleted, email us from the address you signed up with.
• Messages sent through the Contact or Careers form are kept only as long as needed to answer them.
• Community posts stay visible until you delete them or we remove them.
• Event registration and results are kept so that results and certificates stay available. To have yours deleted, email us from the address you registered with.
• Data held by advertising and analytics providers is kept under their own retention policies.
• PharmaWallah is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

All content, calculation tools, Pharmacopedia entries, and AI-generated responses are intended strictly for educational and informational purposes.

By accessing and utilizing Pharmawallah — including its study materials, calculators, Pharmacopedia, and AI guide tool — you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy and consent to its terms. Your continued use constitutes formal agreement to the collection and use of information as described herein.

This policy is governed by the laws of Pakistan. Pharmawallah reserves the right to modify this policy at any time. We encourage users to review this page periodically to stay informed of our current data handling practices.
